New Families: Enrollment & School Information

  • Who can attend Ï㽶ÊÓƵ schools? Are there admission requirements?

    Ï㽶ÊÓƵ schools are free, open-enrollment, public schools open to District of Columbia residents and who meet Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s age requirements.

  • What is the age criterion for students enrolling at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ?

    Age Requirements for the 2024-25 School Year:

    • PreK3: No older than three on September 30, 2024
    • PreK4: No older than four on September 30, 2024
    • K: No older than five on June 1, 2024
    • 1st: Seven years old or younger on September 30, 2024
    • 2nd: Eight years old or younger on September 30, 2024
    • 3rd: Nine years old or younger on September 30, 2024
    • 4th: Ten years old or younger on September 30, 2024

    Students applying for PreK3 must be 3 years old by September 30, 2024, and students applying for PreK4 must be 4 years old by September 30, 2024.

  • Where can I find more information about Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s policies and rules for students?

  • Do Ï㽶ÊÓƵ schools require uniforms?

    Yes, there are uniform requirements for Ï㽶ÊÓƵ students at all of our schools. Learn more about uniforms for the 2024-25 school year.Ìý

  • Does Ï㽶ÊÓƵ offer before- or after-care for students?

    Yes. All PreK3-8 campuses offer onsite before and after school care for students through the YMCA. For more details, including registration, please visit our Before & Aftercare website.

  • What are school hours?

    The typical school hours for Ï㽶ÊÓƵ schools are 8:00 AM-3:30 PM. Arrival for students begins at 7:45 AM every morning. If there are any changes to this schedule, they will be posted to the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ calendar. The 2023-24 calendar of holidays, breaks, etc. is located here.

  • Does Ï㽶ÊÓƵ have a virtual learning option?

    Yes, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ has Virtual Learning Program for students in grades 2 to 8. To express interest in the program, please complete the interest form on the program’s website.

  • What meals are provided for students?

    Ï㽶ÊÓƵ participates in the District of Columbia’s National School Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack Program, which means free breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided to all students at no cost. New Families: Enrollment Process

  • How do I enroll my child?

    Families can begin the enrollment process by applying to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ on . My School DC is the common application for all DC public schools and most public charter schools.

    After being accepted in the lottery or being taken off the waitlist, you will follow Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s enrollment process.

  • What happens if there are not enough available spaces to admit all students who apply?

    When demand exceeds enrollment capacity at a school, your child will be entered in a lottery that will determine the order in which seats are offered. Your child will receive preference in the lottery if they have a sibling who is currently enrolled at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. Students who apply for a seat after the lottery deadline will be added to the waiting list and offered a seat on a first come, first served basis.

    To increase your child’s probability of attending a Ï㽶ÊÓƵ school, we recommend ranking multiple Ï㽶ÊÓƵ locations high in your application.

  • I submitted my application on MySchoolDC, what's next?

    Once a family submits an application, they will receive a confirmation from My School DC via email or phone (depending how you created your account).

    Reminder: Families may create one (1) account per household, but applications need to be submitted for each child seeking a new school placement for the 2024-25 school year.

    Families can log back into their accounts to edit their school ranking until the application deadline date:

      • February 1, 2024 (Grades 9-12)
      • March 1, 2024 (Grades PK3 – 8)

    After the lottery is conducted, families will be notified of the results of their application by My School DC.Ìý 

     

  • If my child is offered a spot at a Ï㽶ÊÓƵ school, what documentation must I provide to be fully enrolled?

    All students enrolled in public schools in Washington, DC are required to provide proof of DC residency. Information on when to complete the Residency Verification process will be communicated by Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s enrollment team. Please refer to the list of to prepare for this process.Ìý

  • Where can I submit my required documents and complete my child's enrollment?

    When you are ready to submit the required documentation to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, you will use the Snap Code sent to your email to access .Ìý

    If you need other options to submit the required documents, your child’s school will provide a method of contact to schedule submission.

Returning Families: Re-Enrollment Information

  • If my student is returning to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, do they need to resubmit a MySchoolDC application?

    No! Returning Ï㽶ÊÓƵ students do not have to reapply via MySchoolDC if they do not wish to transfer to a different campus. Returning students will be automatically enrolled into the next grade level at their home school and home campus.

    Ï㽶ÊÓƵ 8th graders must complete the enrollment process by June 1, 2024 to claim their guaranteed seat. An enrollment email will come directly from their high school.

  • What documents are required for returning students?

    Ï㽶ÊÓƵ families still need to submit forms verifying DC residency as well as students’ health information. A full list of the required documentation can be found at on Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s Enrollment Process website.Ìý

  • Where can I submit my students' documents?

    When you are ready to submit the required documentation to Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, you will use the Snap Code sent to your email to access .Ìý

    If you need other options to submit the required documents, your child’s school will provide a method of contact to schedule submission.

  • Is my student able to transfer to another Ï㽶ÊÓƵ campus?

    Yes! If you would like to switch Ï㽶ÊÓƵ locations for the new school year, you must submit a new MySchoolDC application for your child and choose the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ school you’re interested in. Returning students who are transferring campuses will be given preference in the enrollment process to ensure that they get to remain with us here at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.

  • Can my student move to virtual learning?

    Maybe, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ has a Virtual Learning Program for students in grades 2 to 8. To express interest in the program, please complete the interest form on the program’s website. After submitting the interest form, a member of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s virtual learning program team will reach out walk you through the requirements to participate in the Virtual Learning Program.
